Create your own Mint & Cucumber Gin and Tonic cocktail combining your distilled mint leaf gin and tonic water, then garnish with cucumber to bring a fresh character to your G&T. You’ll craft a refreshing beverage with notes of juniper berries, citrus peels, coriander seeds, liquorice root and dried mint leaves.

Our recipe covers large batch creation by kegging or making smaller amounts using a soda maker.

Find the kegging equipment and ingredients at your local home brew shop.

Ingredients

-          Filtered water (19L)

-          Tonic Water Flavouring Kit

-          3L of pre made 40% mint gin. Follow these instructions to make the gin (use Gin Botanicals Mint Leaf Gin for your botanicals run).

-          Cucumber

Equipment for kegging

•       Kegerator system with a CO2 cylinder

•       Corny keg (19L)

Steps for kegging technique

  1. Ensure the corny keg is cleaned and sanitised.
  2. Add 3L of filtered water to the corny keg.
  3. Add the Tonic Water Flavouring Kit to the corny keg, swirl (with lid closed) or stir to dissolve the tonic flavouring.
  4. Add 3L of mint gin.
  5. Top up to 19L with filtered water.
  6. Force carbonate at 4°C and 15psi for 2 weeks.
  7. Serve with a slice of cucumber and enjoy.

Equipment for soda maker & jerrycan technique

•       Soda maker unit with >250g cylinder

•       Soda maker bottle (1L)

•       A sealable bucket or jerrycan with a tap (>20L capacity)

Steps for soda maker & jerrycan technique

  1. Ensure the jerrycan or bucket is cleaned and sanitised.
  2. Add 3L of filtered water to the jerrycan or bucket.
  3. Add the Tonic Water Flavouring Kit to the jerrycan or bucket, swirl (with lid closed) or stir to dissolve the tonic flavouring.
  4. Top up to 19L with filtered water.

Please follow the next instructions closely to save you wasting tonic and some cleaning

  1. Fill the soda maker bottle (1L) with tonic water.
  2. Install the filled soda maker bottle into the unit.
  3. Press the button quickly and listen for a short burst.
  4. Wait until the bubbles have settled.
  5. Quickly press the button again and listen for a short burst.
  6. Once again, wait until the bubbles have settled.
  7. Repeat until the soda machine releases the pressure indicating the correct carbonation.
  8. Add a shot of mint gin to a tall glass with ice.
  9. Fill the glass with carbonated tonic water.
  10. Serve with a slice of a cucumber and enjoy.
  11. Consume your newly made tonic water within 3 weeks of making it.
